Professional psychosocial counseling from the comfort and privacy of your own space. -
Counseling House offers professional psychosocial therapy tailored to the individual needs of each client. Our therapists may draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Transactional Analysis (TA), EMDR, and other appropriate therapeutic methods.
For clients who wish to include their Christian faith as part of the therapeutic process, faith-supported counseling can also be incorporated. This is always based on the client's own preference.

Therapy can be helpful for anyone who feels stuck, overwhelmed, uncertain, or simply wants to understand themselves better and grow.
We support people experiencing concerns such as anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, questions of identity, major life transitions and personal development.
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes therapy is simply about creating space to understand yourself, your patterns and the direction you want your life to take.
-
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know you and understand what has brought you to therapy.
During the initial consultation and intake, your therapist will explore your current situation, relevant personal history, concerns, strengths and what you hope to achieve through therapy.
Together, you will begin identifying appropriate therapeutic goals and discuss what the next steps could look like. There is no expectation that you need to tell your whole story immediately. The process can move at a pace that feels appropriate for you.
-
You do not need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy.
If something is affecting your wellbeing, relationships, work or ability to enjoy life, or if you find yourself repeating patterns you would like to understand or change, therapy may be helpful.
Therapy can also be valuable when life is going well but you want to develop greater self-awareness, understand yourself more deeply or work toward becoming the person you want to be.
If you are unsure, you can begin with an introductory conversation to explore whether Counseling House is the right place for you.

A standard individual therapy session is approximately 60 minutes.
Your first Initial Consultation & Intake is longer, allowing sufficient time to understand your situation and establish the foundation for therapy.
Some forms of therapy, including EMDR or more complex therapeutic work, may require longer appointments. Your therapist will discuss this with you beforehand.

Yes. Confidentiality is an essential part of creating a safe therapeutic relationship.
What you discuss with your therapist is treated confidentially and your personal information is handled in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and professional standards.
There are limited circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be broken, for example where there is a serious and immediate concern for your safety or the safety of another person, or where disclosure is legally required. Your therapist will explain confidentiality and its limits during the intake process.

Counseling House provides scheduled therapy and is not an emergency or crisis service.
If you are experiencing an immediate mental health crisis or believe that you or someone else may be in danger, please seek urgent support rather than waiting for a Counseling House appointment.
