Our Approach

PERSONLISED. EVIDENCE BASED. COMPASSIONATE

At Counseling House, we believe that every person has a

unique story. We provide a safe, supportive and confidential space where you can explore life’s challenges and begin with the journey toward healing and lasting change.

Our counseling is grounded in established therapeutic approaches, while remaining deeply personal. We tailor every counseling plan to your individual needs, drawing from a range of proven therapeutic approaches.

OUR APPROACH

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Life often brings difficult thoughts and emotions that cannot simply be eliminated. ACT teaches psychological flexibility helping you stop fighting your emotions and instead live according to your values. The focus shifts from avoiding discomfort to building a meaningful and fulfilling life despite life's challenges.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

Transactional Analysis explores how early life experiences influence the way we think, feel, communicate, and relate to others today. By understanding these lifelong patterns, clients gain greater self-awareness and the freedom to make healthier choices.

TA is particularly valuable for improving relationships, emotional awareness, confidence, and personal growth.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you recognise the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, stress, or low self-esteem, and replace them with healthier, more balanced ways of responding.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Traumatic experiences can leave the brain struggling to process painful memories. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain naturally process these memories, reducing their emotional intensity and allowing healing to take place.

Many clients experience significant relief from symptoms associated with trauma, disturbing memories, and overwhelming emotional experiences.

Integrative Therapy

At Counseling House, we don't believe one therapeutic model fits everyone.

Integrative Therapy allows us to combine the strengths of different evidence-based approaches into one personalised treatment plan. Depending on your needs, your therapist may draw from CBT, ACT, EMDR, Transactional Analysis, solution-focused techniques, mindfulness, attachment theory, or other evidence-based methods.

Every counselling journey is uniquely designed around you.

Faith-Informed Counselling

For clients who wish to include their Christian faith as part of the counselling process, we offer therapy that thoughtfully integrates biblical wisdom with evidence-based psychological practice.

Faith-informed counselling is always client-led. Some clients choose to incorporate prayer, Scripture, or spiritual reflection, while others prefer a purely psychological approach. We respect your beliefs and tailor the counselling process to your preferences.

Our aim is to provide professional care that honours both your emotional wellbeing and, where desired, your spiritual journey.
